October is my favorite month because it’s my birthday month (#LibraSeason) and Halloween. If you know me, I love my birthday and Halloween more than anything else. Plus fall weather and pumpkin/spice flavored everything? Sign me up! Add on classic Halloween movies and I am all the way here for it. It’s only fitting that I go to Halloween themed events right? I normally don’t do too much for Halloween because I’m usually swamped with work, or don’t have anyone to go with me. This year I changed all of that and I could not be more thrilled! I am making it a new tradition to attend as many Halloween events as possible. I started this weekend off with The Great Jack O'Lantern Blaze and Horseman's Hollow up in the Sleepy Hollow area. If you don’t know the story of the Headless Horseman, you can read up on it here.
Now, for as much as I love Halloween, I do NOT love scary/creepy/suspense things in any way. I was not prepared for the haunted walk and let me tell you… I would not do it again EVER. While it was good to experience it at least once, I was so scared that I’m pretty sure my screams were heard in back in the boroughs. I kid you not, I was ready to faint. The only saving grace is that they can’t touch you, but they do come pretty damn close. I was surrounded by 3 creepy cast members at one point and was ready to jump over the fence. The more I screamed, the more they were attracted to me and freaked me out even more. I would not tell you to try to do this alone.
Thankfully we went to the more family-friendly Pumpkin Blaze after the haunted walk, so I had time to get myself together and bring my blood pressure and heart rate back down. This is something worth going to and I can 100% recommend to everyone. It will be on my list of traditional things to go to. It does sell out fairly quickly, so be sure to get your tickets early on. Especially if you want a good time slot. The combination of real carved pumpkins and the more intricate faux pumpkins is breathtaking. The lighting, and thought that goes into each of these displays, all the details, are stunning. I wish I could have spent more time there, but we were in the second to last time slot and it was already late.
Stay tuned for more Halloween fun this month!
